Engaging Your Will - Part II We continue with our series on engaging our will this week using the life of Moses. Hebrews 11:27 tells us that Moses left Egypt. This was a decision of his will to walk away from or forsake the “self” life or the world (which is symbolized by Egypt in Scripture). This self life includes a focus on materialism, power, pleasure and religion. In the same way, God is asking us to forsake these elements of the self life and rest completely in Him. When we do make this choice, we can expect for Egypt to try to pull us back in. We can also expect to continue to have desires for the things of Egypt and experience “desert” days. Positively though, when we walk away from Egypt we can expect the power, provision and presence of God as well as the experience of rest (the Promised Land.)
