Revisiting Communion Today we are celebrating Communion- the final celebratory meal that Jesus had with his disciples and then left for the church- his people to enjoy. Many people from our congregation come from many branches of Christianity and we have not taught specifically on the meaning and significance of communion for some time. Using Jesus’ example at the last supper and 1 Corinthians 11, we will answer the Communion Top 5 Questions: What do we call it? Where did it come from? How did they [the early Christians] do it? How often should we do it? And where is it done? Throughout the sermon we will also be discussing the symbolism involved- the meaning of the bread and cup and the purpose of communion which is a as a memorial (remembering the sacrifice of Christ) and fellowship (celebrating our unity as the body of Christ).
